Our Preamble:

Welcome to the Big Book Sponsorship meeting of Al Anon. This is a Twelve Step, Twelve Tradition-oriented fellowship based on the model pioneered by Alcoholics Anonymous. The only qualification for Al Anon membership is being affected by someone else’s drinking. Al Anon is supported entirely through contributions of its membership and is free to all who need it.

We meet every Tuesday at 8 P.M. ET. Our primary purpose is to connect untreated Al Anon members to recovered members who guide newcomers through a personalized one on one study of the Twelve Step program as described in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. We substitute terms and phrases related to alcoholism to apply to Al Anon issues.

Message for the newcomer: As a newcomer you may feel that you are here for the alcoholic…that your presence here may teach you how to stop their drinking. The truth is you are here because of the alcoholic and not for the alcoholic. You will soon learn that you did not cause the alcoholic to drink, you cannot control the drinking, nor can you cure the alcoholic. You are here for yourself. You and you alone are responsible for your recovery. “we learn to place our problem in its true perspective, we find it loses its power to dominate our thoughts and our lives.”

“Without such spiritual help, living with (being around) an alcoholic is too much for most of us. Our thinking becomes distorted by trying to force solutions, and we become irritable and unreasonable without knowing it.”

That’s why we’re here, to share our solution and healing as a community focused on the steps and sponsorship.

This is an ‘Open’ meeting and welcomes anyone who wants to learn more about Al Anon. Please keep the focus on Al Anon recovery.
